Obama condemns ISIS's "heinous murder"

An online video released Saturday purports to show the beheading of journalist Kenji Goto.

U.S. President Barack Obama on Saturday condemned the "heinous murder" of Japanese hostage Kenji Goto by ISIS militants and vowed that the United States would continue its actions to destroy the group.
"The United States condemns the heinous murder of Japanese citizen and journalist Kenji Goto by the terrorist group ISIL," Obama said in a statement released by the White House, using an acronym for the ISIS, which released a video on Saturday appearing to show the beheading of Goto.
In his statement, Obama calls Goto courageous and says the U.S. applauds Japan's steadfast commitment to advancing peace and prosperity in the Middle East as well as around the world.
"Standing together with a broad coalition of allies and partners, the United States will continue taking decisive action to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL," Obama added.
The White House says that while it isn't confirming the authenticity of the video itself, it has confirmed that Goto has been slain.
